To support independent artists, painters, and creators, I grant blanket permission to create and sell your own fan art based on my work, provided that all of the following conditions are met:

1. Title, Description, & Disclaimer Requirements

To protect the integrity of official merchandise and future licensed art projects, any storefront listing, social media post, or display of commercial fan art must explicitly include the following:

In the Title: The phrase "Unofficial Fan Art" must be clearly included. (Example: "Tal’hathal Portrait - Unofficial Fan Art")

In the Description/Listing: You must include the following visible disclaimer: "This art represents the artist's personal vision of the characters and has not been officially endorsed by the author."
Book Purchase Link: The description must include a clear, working link directing buyers to where they can purchase the book.

Note for Platforms with Link Restrictions: If the platform where you sell your art (such as certain mobile apps or specialized storefronts) strictly prohibits external links in descriptions, you may replace the link with the book title (Blood of the Wernashi), the author's name (Mitchlyn B. Roberts), and the name of at least one major site where the book can be officially found.

2. Physical vs. Digital Art

Full Monetization for Individuals: This permission applies to both physical art (such as paintings, prints, charms, stickers, and crafts) and digital art sales (such as digital downloads). You are completely welcome to make a profit off your own hard work and talent!

Monetization Caps & Business Licensing: To ensure this policy protects individual fans rather than large corporations, this commercial permission applies strictly to independent creators earning less than $150,000 USD per year in total gross revenue. Established businesses, manufacturing firms, or corporate entities must reach out to the author directly to negotiate official licensing terms.

3. Human Artists Only (Restrictions on AI & Synthetic Images)

No Monetization for Pure AI Art: The use of generative AI tools to output standalone images, midjourney renders, or synthetic character portraits of Wernashi characters for commercial sale is strictly prohibited. The core goal of this policy is to allow human artists to make money off of their own unique skill, time, and creative execution.

AI in Production & Modern Tools (Allowed): With AI features heavily integrated into standard industry software, the line between manual editing and digital automation can get blurry. As a result, using AI tools for technical image adjustments, such as background removal utilities (like Adobe's remove tool), noise reduction, color correction, canvas expansion, or minor touch-ups, will not exclude you from being able to monetize your art, as long as the human creation requirement is met.

Ideation Exceptions: Using generative AI utilities purely behind the scenes for rough personal brainstorming, composition references, or initial concept modeling will not disqualify you from selling your final Wernashi fan art, provided that the end product sold is your own human-rendered artwork.

Legal Notice & Rights Retention

This policy applies solely to visual fan art (illustrations, designs, and crafts). It does not grant rights to distribute, print, or adapt the text or audio of the book itself.

As the copyright holder of Blood of the Wernashi, I retain the right to modify, restrict, or revoke this blanket permission policy at any time. If a listing misrepresents the source material or violates these guidelines, a removal request may be issued. However, my hope is that this policy will be used as intended so that I can continue to maintain loose restrictions on monetization and access, allowing real artists to fully share and profit from their work.
Thank you for bringing Wernashi to life with your talents!
